If you’ve been doing a little riding or none at all
and are planning your first century (100 miles or 100 km metric) or other endurance ride in the
next three or more months, this is the program for you.
This program will guide you as you build up gradually from
a couple of riding hours per week until you are ready to comfortably
finish a 100-mile ride. Once you are fit enough to do a century, the
program enters a maintenance phase so that you should be ready to do
another at any time over the next few months.

The first century program includes many interesting exercises,
optional weight lifting and one or two gradually longer rides each week. All
rides except for the long day are two hours or less and can easily be
combined with a busy work or family schedule. The First Century
program is available in both heart rate and perceived exertion
versions.
Many riders move from
the “First Century” program to the “Speed
Century” program after a season. More experienced riders can join the beginning
century program at a later point to make the total program time
shorter or go straight to the Speed Century to try improve their ride
times and enjoy a stronger and stronger ride. It’s also possible to move to a racing program if
your goals take you toward that path.

Individual level
Century Program
For:
Beginning riders training for their first big ride, or riders
returning to fitness after a major break or fitness lapse
Program focus overview:
developing, maintaining and improving fitness and general cycling
skills for endurance riding
Includes:
Personal coach, daily direction and exercise descriptions, updated
monthly.
Features:
Minimum and maximum ride time suggestions to fit the program to your
time available. Also, off-season
cross-training, weight training and varied exercises.
Consultation:
60 minutes with your personal coach is included each month.

Semi-Custom Century Program
For:
Beginning or returning riders training for their first big ride who
would like a near Custom program without the Custom price
Program focus
overview:
developing, maintaining and improving fitness and general cycling
skills for endurance riding
Includes:
Personal coach, daily direction and individual exercise descriptions,
scheduled around your personal and event schedule, updated
monthly.
Features:
Minimum and maximum ride time suggestions to fit the program to your
time available. Also, off-season
cross training, weight training and varied exercises.
Consultation:
90 minutes with your personal coach is included each month.

Custom level Century Program
For:
Beginning or returning riders training for their first big ride who
desire an even higher level of detail, customization and attention, or for those who have a combination focus or
unpredictable personal or work schedule.
Program focus
overview:
developing, maintaining, improving and peaking fitness and general
cycling skills for endurance riding
Includes:
Personal coach, daily direction and individual exercise descriptions,
scheduled around your personal and event schedule to the hour if
necessary, updated as needed.
Features:
Ride times and individually created exercises formed to your time
available and focus points. Also, off-season
cross training, weight training and varied exercises.
Consultation:
3 hours with your personal coach is included each month,
including scheduled or coach initiated communication.
