Jim Argabright is a fulltime coach
and an active CAT 1 MTB cross country rider with 17 years of racing
experience on the dirt with extensive training experience on the
road. A USA Cycling Certified Level 2 Coach, Jim also holds USA
Cycling’s prestigious “Power Based Training” certification. He can
teach riders to train by either heart rate or power and enjoys
helping riders determine and reach their ideal racing weight. Jim
is highly experienced in balancing racing and training with family
life and a professional career, allowing clients to achieve their
full potential in cycling, whether they are beginner or elite,
junior or master.
Jim has lived and raced in Colorado,
New England and Texas and uses his familiarity with the various race
venues and training opportunities to help his clients excel. His
racing experience is extensive; he has won the Connecticut Point
Series and taken second in the New England Point Series. He has
qualified for the USA Cycling National Championships on numerous
occasions and has twice placed in the top 10 at Nationals. Jim has
participated and raced in many of the US “classics,” including the
Mount Washington Hill Climb (New Hampshire), Fitchburg Longsjo
Classic Stage Race (Massachusetts) and the Firecracker 50
(Colorado). He currently enjoys racing the Texas Mountain Bike
Racing Association (TMBRA) Series and is an active member of the
Dallas Off-road Racing Association (DORBA).
Jim has received formal bike mechanic
training from the Barnett Bicycle Institute and enjoys teaching
everything from road side repairs to full-scale tune-ups and major
repairs. Jim is also a certified strength coach from the National
Academy of Sport Medicine (NASM) and has been a Wenzel Coaching
coached athlete under Head Coach Scott Saifer, enhancing his
familiarity and belief in the Wenzel training programs.
Jim is married and has three
children. He has a BS degree in Mechanical Engineering from Brigham
Young University. When he’s not racing or training he enjoys reading
and movies (and occasionally, climbing a Colorado “14’er.")
