John Foster adds to Wenzel Coaching over 13 years of
racing experience, including six years as a Category 1 and two years
as a professional with the US Nutra-Fig team and the Swiss Ficonseils
team.
As a part of René Wenzel's original "Class of 1991" junior development
program (along with riders such as Fred Rodriguez and George Hincapie),
John is well familiar with the Wenzel Coaching training philosophies.
He has also been a multi-time Idaho State Champion who credits his
success to his training and knowledge about racing over his given
talent.
As a coach, John has helped along the riders on three elite cycling
teams that he helped both start and run. He is a detail-oriented coach
who believes strongly in the mind/body connection and is looking
forward to helping cyclists set goals and achieve them.
Known as sharp tactician and valuable teammate, John also put his
cycling knowledge to use writing for various publications, including
VeloNews and Bike.com. He makes his home in Boise, Idaho, where he is
managing editor of the Idaho Business Review. He has earned more than
a dozen writing and investigative reporting awards as a reporter and
editor.
In his spare time he enjoys trail running, reading the New Yorker,
surfing the internet, cooking Italian food and hiking in the red rock
deserts of southern Utah and northern New Mexico. He and his wife
Andrea, a college math instructor, have a son, Jack, and a daughter,
Naomi.
