Joe Landry
has coached road and track cyclists of all levels for nearly 10 years.
In that time his coaching successes have ranged from helping introduce junior riders to the
sport and competing at the national level, to a Cat. 2 rider setting a
personal best in the 40 km individual time trial.
His coaching strengths lie
in developing sound race tactics and strategies, training with power
and heart rate, and mental training for competition. Specifically, he
has developed tools to model training data, feedback and response to
more accurately prescribe training loads and recovery for optimizing
performance. In 1997, he earned a degree in general studies from the
University of Louisiana with an emphasis on exercise physiology and
biomechanics.
Joe has raced as a road and
track cyclist for over 20 years-- most at the elite level both
domestically and internationally. He garnered top 10 finishes in a
host of Dutch criteriums and Belgium kermesses as well as competed
domestically on the US National Racing Calendar (NRC) and the USCF elite road national
championships.
Joe is active in programs to
bring North American athletes to race in Europe and specializes in
working with up and coming junior and under 23 cyclists.
When not out riding or
coaching, Joe enjoys flying, reading and music.
