Kari Studley has been racing at the elite level bike since 2004 and
currently races both cyclocross and XC mountain bike professionally
for Team Redline / BikePT.com. Her admiration of the human body and
its abilities inspired her to pursue a BS in Exercise and Sport
Science and a Doctorate in Physical Therapy. Kari now merges her
passion for cycling and human kinetics as a USA Cycling certified
coach with Wenzel Coaching and as a bike fit specialist at Corpore
Sano in Kenmore,WA. She also contributes articles on injury
prevention and health at
www.BikePT.com .
As both a coach and a working athlete, Kari understands the delicate
balance of athletic ambitions and real life practicalities. She is
devoted to providing individualized coaching that reflects and
respects one’s current goals and other life commitments. Kari also
loves the human side of being a coach and physical therapist and
loves the challenge of finding the key to help someone succeed.
Always active (and competitive), Kari ran varsity cross country
throughout high school, placed top 5 consistently in sprint and
Olympic distance triathlons in college, and has raced at the elite
level in road, XC mountain and cyclocross. She is the current U.S.
National Cyclocross Single Speed Champion. She is also a 5 time
Washington State Cyclocross Champion and 2009 Single Speed World
Champion. She has raced successfully in multiple USA Cycling
National Championship events, including the Road Race, Individual
Time trial, XC Mountain Bike, Short Track, Master’s Cyclocross,
Single Speed Cyclocross and Elite Cyclocross. Kari is generally a
feared factor (of bike race pain infliction) at the local race scene
and has placed top-5 in several Washington State Best All-round
Rider events.
Kari
has always had a passion for dirt and riding her bike. As a
teenager, entire spring breaks and summer vacations were spent
riding her bike to neighboring cities. In college, Kari discovered
long distance mountain biking (completing the Kokopelli Trail in
Utah), bike touring (doing STP in one day, Tour de Blast, RATPOD,
and being the first woman to cross the finish line at RAMROD), and
bike racing! Kari also taught swim lessons for six years to all
ages and swam all through college on the Western WA swim club. In
addition to achievement, Kari also has a record of service above
self awards and being recognized as “most inspirational” by her
cross country teammates all four years of high school.
Kari loves to share her passion of cycling and a healthy
lifestyle through serving as Head Coach for the Biking Vikings High
School Mountain Bike Team based out of Kenmore,WA. She is also
highly involved with the Washington High School Cycling League and
National Interscholastic Cycling Association (NICA) through
providing presentations at Leaders Summits and coaching student
athletes at the NICA Invitational Camps and NICA National Select
Team. Kari was honored as the first NICA "Coach of the Year" for
Washington in 2011. She has helped the NorthShore YMCA to create
Mountain Bike clinics and programs for junior and high school
students of all abilities.
Kari lives in Bothell, WA with her Studley husband and furry kids: 4
guinea pigs, rabbit and cat. When stationary, Kari loves to knit,
read, try to entice things to grow in the garden, and volunteer at
Rabbit Haven (a rabbit rescue/adoption shelter).

"Thank you so much for the clinic on Saturday. It
was really helpful and the advice about getting your butt on the
nose of your saddle (bring your weight forward) when turning helped
a lot on Sunday. It actually feels really natural and you can feel
how it seems to make your front wheel carve through turns. Awesome!
It was also so helpful to pre-ride the course a bit. I get huge
anxiety about things I don’t know and as soon as we went through I
realized, “I can do this!”. It really helped my confidence going in
to the next day. " ~ Tamara D
"I just wanted to say thanks for putting on the clinic today.
It was helpful on so many different levels. A year later, it was
good to get back to the basics. It was also a confidence-builder for
Ann and me to see other people in the same position we were last
year... I also learned new tactics today. You were absolutely right
about bringing the bike in closer. I was a LOT more efficient after
that. Thank you! That was huge." ~ Cami T
