Kitty Farago has been cycling seriously for almost 30 years. She
brings to her coaching the experience of racing in New England, the
Southwest and Nationally as well as a background in medical care.
Kitty works with all levels of athletes, specializing in those
coming to cycling later in life and juggling work, family and other
responsibilities around training and competing.
Although she did her first bicycle tour not long after high school
graduation, Kitty became a serious recreational cyclist only in her
late twenties and early thirties, riding many centuries with local
New England cycling groups. She is an accomplished touring cyclist,
having ridden from Los Angeles to Boston, San Francisco to Salt Lake
City, and Boston to Quebec.
Kitty discovered mountain bike racing in her early 40’s and then
quickly expanded to road racing and Cyclocross. She raced the latter
two disciplines throughout New England for eight years and then
moved to Arizona where she has continued to race over the last six
years. Career highlights include winning the 2000 Cross Nationals in
the 45+ category and a second place in 2001, racing the New England
Verge series, winning the Iron Horse Classic Masters Women Omnium in
2010, and participating in many national level stage races in New
England and the West including Fitchburg, Vermont, Bisbee, and the
Tucson Bicycle Classic. Prior to getting involved with cycling, she
raced Olympic distance triathlons, cross country ski marathons, and
10K running races.
Kitty is intimately familiar with the challenges of balancing work
and training, coming back after surgeries and injuries, as well as
learning to race in the masters categories and competing with
younger riders. She enjoys helping new riders reach their goals and
is available for ongoing training programs and well as one-on-one
appointments for skills and other training.
In addition to racing, Kitty has co-promoted several races and
helped promote women’s cycling in the Northeast. She graduated from
the University of Rochester with a BS in Nursing and an MBA from
Xavier University. She has worked as a visiting nurse in home care
for close to 20 years and also pursues her interests in natural
health and nutrition.
