Nitish Nag is a remarkably
dynamic coach with a diverse background including cycling, martial
arts, and backcountry outdoorsmanship. Racing for almost a decade,
Nitish Nag is a dedicated national level racer competing as a
Mountain
Bike Pro and enjoys helping other athletes to reach the elite level. A
USA Cycling Level 3 Coach and a USA Cycling Race Mechanic, he is an
expert at all aspects of cycling from training to mechanics, tactics,
and equipment selection. He brings an immense amount of knowledge to
Wenzel Coaching.
Nitish is currently a
student at UC Berkeley where he is studying Nutritional Science with a
focus on Physiology and Metabolism in addition to Integrative Biology
with a focus on Kinesiology. His serious interest in science makes
Nitish a very detail-oriented coach. In particular, he enjoys working
with athletes who are also scientifically oriented. He helps athletes optimize all
aspects of their preparation to truly bring out the best performance.
At the same time his relaxed and positive attitude make him a great
motivator and allows athletes to enjoy their sport to the maximum.
Nitish has coached multiple
athletes towards wins and podium finishes at the state and national
levels. He enjoys supporting developing athletes and is the president
and founder of the NRL Racing Development Cycling Team, working with
young motivated athletes as they reach towards the elite levels of
cycling. He also is heavily involved with the NorCal High School
Mountain Bike League, has founded two high school competition teams,
and is a director on the Cal Cycling Team for the University of
California, Berkeley.
Nitish is an
Outdoor Idol, one of the nation’s top awards for outdoor sports
athletes. He also is a National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS)
certified Backcountry Backpacking Trip Leader and representative as
well as a Leave No Trace Instructor, helping people enjoy and care for
the outdoors while creating powerful leadership skills.
He currently works at the UC
Berkeley Nutritional Science Laboratory doing cutting edge research,
after working previously in three top biology and biotech firms over
the last seven years.
Before coming to cycling,
Nitish was a top level Martial Artist, earning his 2nd degree Black
Belt and competing and fighting all over the West Coast of the United
States. He has been a top instructor, mentoring multiple candidates to
reach their Black Belts. He continues to train for martial arts in the
off-season. Nitish currently races a full year schedule with Mountain
Bike, Road and Collegiate events around the continent. Outside of
coaching and competing, he enjoys rock climbing, snowboarding,
backpacking, kite flying, rafting, dancing, running, photography,
cinematography and much more.
