Road Racing Programs

focusing on road racing can be divided into three levels:
Individual
Semi-Custom
Custom

Wenzel Coaching offers several road racing focuses based on the time
you have available to train and your road event focus. All road
focused training includes endurance training, interval training,
racing as training, and specific skill training including climbing,
sprinting, spinning and big gear training in addition to other
exercises. The off season program also includes weight training and
allows for cross training, including mountain biking and cyclocross in
addition to other cross training arranged by you and your coach.

9-5 Working Road Racing Focus:
Programs for racers with jobs in the real
world with fewer than 12 hours to train per week. This
is also the program for students with full schedules or anyone else
who only has 10-12 hours maximum to train each week.
Available at Individual and
Semi-Custom levels.
Custom level programming for racers
with less than 12 hours is also available.
Main
Road Racing Focus:
Programs for
racers who have at least 15 or more hours to train each week (and 20
or more for senior elite riders), setting out day
by day what to do to reach your potential in road racing. The main
focus revolves around the fitness and skills for general road racing,
time trials and criteriums, and includes base training, building
intensity through intervals and race training, skills, form and other
exercises designed to help you reach your potential.
Available at Individual and
SemiCustom levels.
Custom level programming for racers
focusing on road racing is also available.
Criterium Focus:
Programs focusing on criterium racing (and mass start track racing).
Programs with a
criterium focus are for those concentrating racing crits and shorter
road races. This focus is also
suitable for those who regularly enjoy racing endurance events on the track such
as points races and other mass start racing.
The main focus revolves
around the fitness and skills for the high-speed, technical racing of
criteriums, and includes daily direction and individual exercise
descriptions to sharpen your speed, power and corning ability among
other components. A range of minimum to maximum time for each exercise
helps you make the most of your training time.

Custom level programming for racers
focusing on criteriums is also available.
Time Trial Focus:
Programs focusing on Time Trial performance. Suitable for time-trial
junkies or triathletes focusing on their riding game.
A time trial focus will include extended intervals and form work as
well as an endurance base and all the other factors which build our
successful road racing programs.
Available in Semi-Custom and
Custom levels only.
Combination focus:
All programs
can adapt to occasional combinations of other events. For racers with
constant combining of event focuses, a
Custom level program is recommended.
