Associate Coach / Colorado Springs, Colorado
"Stuart has been my coach for about three years and I think the world of him. I've seen improvements in my riding all three of those years.... I would say that Stuart is great at customer service. When I send him my schedule he has my training plans up within hours. If I call him he answers or returns my call within a few hours. He seems genuinely interested in my success. He's excited when I do well and encouraging if I have some bad luck. I can tell that he knows what he's doing because I see and feel the improvements."
Stuart Lamp of Decatur, Alabama is a USA Cycling Level 2 Certified Coach with 15 years experience racing mountain bikes, road races, criteriums, stage races and time trials, as well as more recently competing in 5-10km running races. He currently races as a Pro on the MTB and Cat 1 on the road. Stuart works full time in cycling as the USA Cycling Regional Coordinator for the Southeast, overseeing all aspects of competitive cycling in the area — a job which allows him to be easily accessible to his clients.
Stuart helps his athletes through monthly training programs, one-on-one skill training sessions and instructional clinics in preparation for road, mountain bike, running and triathlon events. His athletes benefit from his extensive racing experience and his ability to guide and inspire athletes to achieve goals through proper training and recovery, bike handling, and technical skills, in addition to reading and understanding race dynamics. He also teaches them to closely monitor the mental outlook that drives training, competition and overall performance. Stuart utilizes the scientific aspects of performance improvement by creating programs that address each athlete’s specific strengths and weaknesses in relation to their goals. Just as importantly, he understands the need for balance in training, work and family life, and can help you optimize your training by getting the most out of your training time.
Stuart started racing mountain bikes in Alabama in the fall of 2000, and quickly established himself through dedicated training, winning many regional events in the Southeast. He followed his passion for bike racing to North Carolina where he joined the Lees McRae Collegiate Cycling Team. He eventually switched from mountain bike to road racing during this time and won several individual races and championships, crowning his collegiate career with a win in the Team Time Trial win at the Collegiate National Championships.
Stuart graduated from Lees McRae in 2006, and moved back to Alabama to work in Sports Marketing for his hometown of Decatur, Alabama. In 2007, he went to work for USA Cycling, where he works presently. He has continued to race, winning several Pro 1/2 races in his region. Stuart’s recent entry into running has resulted in podium finishes in every running race he has entered. He is using these events to target upcoming duathlons, and triathlons with the ultimate goal of competing in an Ironman in the near future.
Stuart lives in Decatur, Alabama with his two children. They enjoy family time and being outside as much as possible.

"Last night I rode at the Krusher ride for the first time this year. This was a good fitness test to see my performance on an intense ride. Not surprisingly, my performance was exceptionally strong with PRs on most segments. While I rode hard, I could have ridden even harder, if needed. I wanted to keep a little in reserve just in case the ride went off the rails, as it typically does. I kept up with the fast group and everyone noticed the significant performance gains. I have you to thank for your experience, guidance, and wise counsel. While I did the work, these gains would not have possible without your depth of knowledge and experience. As I said before during my last check-in a couple of months ago, your coaching services have far exceeded my goals and expectations." ~ J. Ortiz
"I would highly recommend Stuart to anyone looking to improve their fitness and preparation. He is very knowledgeable and encouraging, and honestly works to improve his clientele." ~ T. Holt

"I've worked with Stuart for the last 2 years. He took me through the build-up to my first Ironman and had me very prepared. He is very organized regarding my training schedule and each workout has a purpose over the annual training cycle. He is always on time and very accessible, though I will admit I don't usually need a lot of day-to-day feedback. If I had concerns, he followed up with me quickly and we fixed a game plan." ~ Bill G.
"I contacted Stuart because he came recommended to me. He was the first cycling coach I'd ever had and I reached out to him since I had just purchased a watt meter and wanted to base my training around that technology. Stuart demystified the whole training process for me. He was patient and took the time to make sure I understood the whole process and terminology. If I had questions he was quick to respond. If I needed to talk with him I had his personal cell phone. My weekly schedule can vary due to work constraints and he was always quick to adjust my training schedule accordingly to where I never missed a day of training due to my plan not being updated." ~Brian J.
"Stuart has done an incredible job in getting my fitness even better than before. His services have been invaluable and I will continue to recommend his services to my cycling friends who are serious about improving their performance.
Thank you so much for your coaching services. Best investment I ever made in this wonderful sport." ~John
