Adventure Race Coaching: Completing or Competing
Whether you are taking on your first short adventure race or preparing for a multi-day endurance challenge, and whether you are hoping to finish or to top the podium, Wenzel Coaching has an adventure racing coach with the experience and knowledge to help you reach your goals. Most adventure racers will do only a few competitions per year so you really want to get it right the first time, not “learn from mistakes” you make in competition. Your coach will work with you to identify areas for improvement before your race so you will arrive on the start line with the needed knowledge, skills and fitness to do it right the first time.
Your coach is your second objective brain with the foresight and experience to tell you when to push through and when to back off.
Your coach will help you with all aspects of preparation, from nutrition and hydration to equipment selection and training, to pre-race packing and pacing within the event. Your program will be based on the time you have available to train and will include exercises focusing on running, mountain biking, kayaking, orienteering and any other specific areas needed for your special event. Training will specifically prepare you for the special challenges of adventure racing, such as racing in the dark, or in very hot or cold conditions. Your program can include a gym-based strength program if needed.
All monthly Wenzel Coaching Adventure Racing programs include at least 3 hours of open consultation time each month to accompany the written program where you can provide feedback and discuss tactics, schedule changes, nutrition, specific workout instruction and anything else that will best direct you in your training. Your coach is your second objective brain with the foresight and experience to tell you when to push through and when to back off.
