This 4-hour, Saturday afternoon clinic works on climbing skills, including breathing techniques and positive self-talk. Wenzel Associate Coach Peg Maass Labiuk  will guide you, utilizing the Olympic Discovery Trail and quiet local roads in the hills of Port Angeles, WA.

Come for the Saturday afternoon clinic on the local trail and quiet roads.  If you like, stay overnight and challenge yourself to climb Hurricane Ridge Road in the Olympic National Park the next day – $15 per cyclist park entrance fee applies.


Clinic Details

Learn from experienced Associate Coach Peg Maass Labiuk, who has over 25 years of cycling and coaching experience. We’ll cover:

  • climbing seated technique
  • climbing standing technique
  • when to sit, when to stand
  • breathing patterns and finding the best ones for you
  • positive self-talk and imaging for the grind
  • a script for climbing the 17.5 miles up Hurricane Ridge Road
  • training preparation for the “Ride the Hurricane” event

Is This Clinic For You?:

All Adults Welcome! This will be a small group with individual attention.
If your goals include climbing Hurricane Ridge in the Olympic National Park, let’s work on it together!

Gear:

Arrive ready to ride, with layers of cycling clothing, helmet, two full water bottles, and pocket food to last 4 hours.  Regrouping and replenishing breaks will be scheduled.

Location Details:

Meet at the metal bird sculpture on the Olympic Discovery Trail at 12:30 PM, in front of the Red Lion Hotel. Parkade or City Pier parking available.

Directions:

Come by bike – it’s easy access from anywhere in the city.

Or if driving, go north (towards the water) on Lincoln St. until it tees into Railroad Street.  Go straight ahead for city parkade or turn right for city pier parking.
