    David Hart

    Coach / Vancouver, Washington

Coach David Hart of Vancouver, Washington has over 20 years of riding and racing experience on the road and dirt. David is familiar with both sides of the finish line as both a competitor and official/race promoter of cycling events for the Oregon Bicycle Racing Association and USA Cycling. David knows through personal experience how to balance work and a family with kids while training and racing, and he looks forward to helping others balance their lives for optimal performance.

David holds an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Fitness Training and is a NSCA Certified Personal Trainer, Nutrition Coach (NASM), and YogaFit Level 1 Instructor. One of David’s several areas of expertise is the role of functional movement along with nutrition and recovery methods in athletic success.

David enjoys seeing others getting into the sport and has helped mentor the novice men and women at the weekly races at Portland International Raceway (PIR). While attending school, he has helped fellow students to start cycling by providing proper bike fit and nutritional guidance and has provided similar support to more experienced riders.

David first picked up a mountain bike when he found himself a little out of shape and disappointed in his performance in a charity fun run. After a year of riding and running the local trails around Seattle, he transitioned to the road bike and joined the local racing club and has been racing ever since. While his main cycling love is road racing, he enjoys cyclocross and gravel riding as switches from the road scene. David has participated regularly in the Master 40+ category in Oregon racing, having competed in Northwest stage races such as the Mt. Hood Classic and Baker City Cycling Classic. He has also completed organized rides such as the Chilly Hilly, Kitsap Color Classic, and Seattle to Portland (which he has completed in both a single day and in two days).

David runs regularly and does a handful of half marathon to marathons in the fall, swims and hits the local trails with the MTB as ways to cross train and have fun traveling with the family.

David resides in Vancouver, WA and is the proud father of a son and daughter. In order to support the cycling scene, David and his partner at Zone 5 Promotions put on several road and cycling events every year. In addition to coaching, he enjoys traveling and watching movies with friends and family.

"The service provided by David and Wenzel has met my expectations. David responds quickly to my questions. I have learned a lot and I started seeing how many errors I was doing before. I am happy with the training and I can see my overall fitness improving." Henry

"When I first signed up for coaching, I was road racing in novice and barely able to hang on to the pack for the entire race. In cyclocross races, I would get lapped every race in the beginner's field. Carefully following David's customized plans for me, it didn't take long to build the strength, stamina and mental ability to start performing better. I quickly moved up to road race in the 4/5 group and even started to get some top 10 finishes. In cross races, I was amazed that I was able to start finishing in the top third of the beginner's group. It has been great working with David. He is available anytime I need to talk with him about some aspect of my training or even if I have an equipment question." ~
