    Ryan Johnson

    Coach / Brookville, Pennsylvania

Coach Ryan Johnson of Brookville, PA is passionate about the science of exercise and nutrition, and the strategies of cycling. A long term-planner, Ryan has known for years that he wanted to share his knowledge and help other riders in their quests for improved performance and competitive results. To prepare for this career, he majored in Exercise Science with a minor in Coaching at Brevard College. Ryan currently races mountain bike cross country (XCO), cyclocross, endurance mountain biking, and gravel. Through discipline and dedication, he has reached the status of UCI pro in XCOlympic, XCMarathon, and CX. While his own racing is important to him, he’s just as excited about supporting his client-athletes as they prepare for and participate in their own races.

Ryan’s experience as a junior, collegiate and pro racer help him relate to his clients working through all category levels. He takes great pride in individualizing his training plans to meet his clients’ needs. Ryan studies the newest training techniques and technology to give his clients an edge over their competition.

Ryan started racing mountain bikes when he was 12 years old and then broadened his interests to include different disciplines of cycling. For much of his career, he has competed in road, mountain biking, and cyclocross. During his college career, Ryan raced for Brevard’s varsity program. He and his team podiumed at every national championship they attended. In addition to competing in national championships, he has raced at the Pan-American Championships and recently competed in an XCO World Cup. Ryan also enjoys racing ultra and gravel events.

Playing multiple sports as a child, including baseball, basketball, swimming and XC running, made Ryan a team player. Early on, he learned the joys of working with teammates toward a common, competitive goal. Now, his client-athletes are his team, and teamwork means helping them achieve their own competitive successes.

Ryan’s family is very supportive of his career. Ryan’s uncle introduced him to biking. It started out as a hobby that they enjoyed doing together. Ryan then got some of his other friends and family involved in the sport. To this day they still enjoy getting together for rides. Ryan spends his free time hanging with family, playing golf, and riding motorcycles.

"Ryan's enthusiasm and encouragement for his athletes is contagious. He is data driven and knowledgeable when it comes to writing individualized adaptive programs for his athletes. Ryan listened to my goals, developed a plan, and continues to alter my program and provide feedback to help me accomplish my training and racing objectives. His dedication, workouts, and positive motivation have helped me become a stronger competitive cyclist. Thank you Ryan!" ~Brett M. Stana

"Ryan has an incredible aptitude for endurance training methods, physiology, and the science to back his protocol (the why as I call it). He is eager to help, always available, and paying close attention to the metrics on a daily basis. As a relatively new endurance athlete myself, Ryan takes special care to ensure I understand why we're doing certain things, and clearly articulates the goals ahead of time so that I always know what direction we are going. Ryan has an excitement about me, personally, and sees to it that I understand his passion for endurance training, and for me personally. He is flexible with my schedule, and always looking to solve problems creatively." ~ G. McQueen
