Will Swanson of Portland, Oregon has been riding bikes and reveling in the freedom and excitement of cycling for most of his life. He enjoys sharing the love and skills of riding with beginning, aspiring and established Portland area riders on the road or dirt. 

Will has raced since his wee days, racing BMX starting at age eight. From there he went on to freestyle racing and eventually to mountain biking. Road racing came next, where he rose to the Cat 2 level. Though racing isn’t his jam any more, he continues to commute and work in bike shops as a bike builder, sales and service manager and general manager.

The last two years have especially rekindled Will’s love of biking. Everything from 20-inch BMX wheels to full suspension downhill rigs bring new excitement. He’s refined his existing skills and developed new ones by riding skateparks (something new to him) and conquering gap jumps. He’s also been riding pump tracks and returning to the mountains whenever he can to remind himself why he rides  – because it’s fun!

While improving his own skills, Will has also studied how cycling works, what makes a bike stay up and go where you want it to go, and how to make it do the things you want it to do. This is what Will can teach you — not only the basic skills of riding, but the skills to put yourself in control and make it fun. Tell him where you want to go with your cycling, and Will will help you get there.
