The Wenzel Coaching SemiCustom level program is for those who want a more customized written, daily training program and a personal coach at an affordable price. Each month’s program includes a calendar that tells you daily what your training exercise should be and provides the complete exercise instructions along with any strength training, stretching or other specific additions to the program. An introduction with explanations of training period focuses and answer to frequently asked questions.
Your SemiCustom level program includes:
- Personal coach
- Monthly written training program
- 1.5 hrs monthly consultation time
- Varied workouts to challenge and alleviate repetitive training boredom
- Cadence exercises for efficiency and strength
- Focused training to address your strengths and areas needing improvement
- Endurance and efficiency training
- Speed and power through interval and sprint training
- Concentrated climbing exercises (form, strength, and power)
- Off-season cross training
- Multi-season compatible (for instance, road and cyclocross racing)
- Off-season strength training in gym or on bike
- In-season strength maintenance
Who is this program best for: The SemiCustom level program works well for those athletes who want a customized training program that works with their personal schedule and life demands and who want a little more personal attention in the form of consultation time with their coach. You will receive a monthly plan that will be adjusted to reflect constraints on your training time, target events, areas of strength and weakness, and recovery ability as discussed with your coach. Plan can be updated once throughout the month if your situation changes. Contact can be as frequent as needed but is client initiated. Your coach will want to hear from you often, but if he or she doesn’t it will be assumed that you are doing well, following the program, and don’t need immediate attention.
SemiCustom level programs combine endurance training, speed and interval training, event-specific skill training (such as cadence, climbing and sprinting) in addition to off season strength training, cross training and other exercises arranged by your coach with your feedback.
Consultation: 1.5 hours per month.
Consultation time can be utilized by phone, email, or in person when possible. The consultation time each month with your Wenzel Coach can be used to answer questions, review training data files, discuss upcoming or recently completed events or races, and to help personalize the schedule to your individual needs. Consultation time is one of the most valuable components of this program, and all athletes are encouraged to utilize it. Additional minutes beyond the original 1.5 hrs will be billed at the Consultation rate. (In our experience, very few athletes exceed allotted consultation time each month.)
Program variables: The SemiCustom level program is based on your personal schedule, goals, experience, racing category (when applicable), season timing, event priorities, heart rate data, fitness levels, age, sex, height/weight ratio, and athlete feedback, among other measures.
The written program: Each monthly program outlines daily the workouts suggested for you to achieve your potential. The program contains a calendar of exercises and descriptions of workouts utilized for that training period. A written introduction prefaces the concepts and focuses for that that month. The introduction also contains tips, reminders, and answers to frequently asked questions.
Program rules: Athletes may upgrade or downgrade program levels from month to month in order to take advantage of more customized programming for peak periods.
